To support recent growth, WEC Laser employees have recently built a new 25,500 sq ft state-of-the-art purpose-built facility at the Group's headquarters in Darwen.
WEC Laser has two tube laser cutting machines, which are capable of not only laser cutting tube, but also box section and most open profiles.
WEC Group have achieved full compliance with AS/EN 9100 for Laser and Waterjet Cutting
Recognised worldwide, the AS9100 certification gives us the opportunity to expand into markets including Aviation, Space and Defence which we have identified as key growth areas, and we are very excited to get started with this new development

WEC Group has completed a deal to bring steel engineering specialist MTL Group out of administration, saving 135 jobs.
The addition of MTL Group more than doubles WEC's engineering capacity. The Group now has almost 600 staff working across eight sites in Lancashire, Yorkshire and Merseyside.

The machine will enable a new variety of non-ferrous materials to be laser cut and we now have the capacity of laser cutting copper and brass up to 6mm thickness.

Comprising Laser Engineering UK in Darwen and 5750 Components in Liverpool, WEC Laser is the laser cutting division of WEC Group Ltd. Established in 1998, following the purchase of the group's first laser cutting machine, WEC Laser has grown from strength to strength and has now turned into one of the UK's largest sub-contract CNC laser cutting companies.
Continuous investment in the latest laser cutting technology is the key to the laser division's dramatic growth over the past two years and our state-of-the-art CNC laser machines enable WEC Laser to compete at the highest level.
WEC Laser now boasts an enviable capacity list which includes 11 flat bed lasers, 2 tube lasers, 14 press brakes as well as full in-house fabrication and CNC machining facilities. Our laser cutters enable us to laser cut up to 4000mm x 2000mm sheet size and our new 7Kw laser is capable of laser cutting stainless steel up to 30mm thickness, laser cutting mild steel up to 30mm thicknesses as well as laser cutting aluminium up to 20mm thickness.
Following some recent investment in 2013, WEC Laser are now also capable of laser cutting brass and copper up to 6mm thickness.
In addition, WEC Laser now has two laser tube cutting machines, which are capable of not only laser cutting tube and box section, but also most open profiles such as angle and channel . In 2011, WEC Laser has also invested in a new Adige 3D Tube Laser Cutting machine from Italian manufacturers BLM Group
Thanks to extensive investment in the latest press brakes technology, we also benefit from extensive Sheet Metalwork capability, with folding and bending capacity of 4m x 230 tonnes, and with over 125 welders on site, we can easily cater for any of your Sheet Metal Fabrication requirements.
