WEC Plasma is a new addition to the Group’s already extensive range of subcontract engineering services.
Based at WEC Group's waterjet cutting division’s 17,000 sq. ft. factory in Blackburn, Lancashire, WEC Plasma has been set up to add value to the Group's fabrication operations and also improve the subcontract cutting capacity for thick profiles.

The machine will enable a new variety of non-ferrous materials to be laser cut and we now have the capacity of laser cutting copper and brass up to 6mm thickness.

WEC Laser also known as Laser Engineering UK, is the laser cutting division of WEC Group Ltd, based in Darwen, Lancashire. Established in 1998, following the purchase of the group's first laser cutting machine, WEC Laser has grown from strength to strength and has now turned into one of the UK's largest sub-contract laser cutting companies.
Continuous investment in the latest laser cutting technology is the key to the laser division's dramatic growth over the past few years and our state-of-the-art CNC laser machines enable WEC Laser to compete at the highest level.
In addition to the traditional flat bed laser cutting services, WEC Laser has also found their niche in the supply of tube laser cutting and box section laser cutting.
WEC Laser now boasts an enviable capacity list which includes 21 flat bed lasers, 2 tube lasers, 24 press brakes as well as full in-house fabrication, CNC machining, and powder coating facilities. Our laser cutters enable us to laser cut up to 20m x 3.2m sheet size and our new 10Kw fiber lasers are capable of laser cutting stainless steel up to 30mm thickness, laser cutting mild steel up to 25mm thicknesses as well as laser cutting aluminium up to 20mm thickness.
Following continuous investments in state-of-the-art laser cutting technology, WEC Laser are now also capable of cutting brass and copper up to 10mm thickness.
In addition, WEC Laser now has two laser tube cutting machines, which are capable of not only laser cutting tube and box section, but also most open profiles such as angle and channel. We also recently invested in a new Adige 3D Tube Laser Cutting machine from Italian manufacturers BLM Group.
WEC Laser also offers a waterjet cutting service enabling us to cut profiles of up to 7.3m x 2.4m x 200mm thick for any materials including steel, non-ferrous alloys, plastics, composites, glass, foam and stone to made but a few. Further to this, we now offer a multi bevel, high definition plasma cutting service with capability to cut parts up to 10m x 2.5m x 50mm thick for mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, with chamfered edges up to 50 degrees, enabling us to offer huge cost savings to our customers for weld preps, countersinks and a range of other component specifications.
Thanks to extensive investment in the latest press brakes technology, we also benefit from extensive Sheet Metalwork capability, with folding and bending capacity of 4m x 230 tonnes, and with over 125 welders on site, we can easily cater for any of your Sheet Metal Fabrication requirements We also offer a full in-house powder coating service for parts of up to 1.5m high x 3m long x 800mm wide.
