Record investment for WEC Laser as we gear up for Industry 4.0
Our Darwen based Laser Engineering facility has benefitted from £4m of investment in 2020 with the installation of three new 10kw fibre lasers and a new LT8.10 Fibre Tube Laser increasing our capacity by 33% whilst reducing our carbon footprint in line with our environmental strategy.
Technology has rapidly progressed since we opened the “Technology Centre” over ten years ago, particularly with the development of fibre laser technology and the move towards Industry 4.0 and automation within manufacturing.
The Trumpf 10kw Fibre Lasers have been fitted with the LiftMaster Compact and PartMaster sorting station which provides an automated service whilst seamlessly blending advanced technology into the manufacturing process.
The LT8.10 Fibre Tube Laser complete with step loader comes equipped with a 3D tilting head, allowing us to do 45° chamfers and other complex cutting patterns including weld prep cuts in thick walled tubes expanding our current tube laser offering and increasing overall capacity within the division.
The Trumpf Fibre laser cutting machines played a key part in our successful efforts to supply over 12,000 sheet metal assemblies for the VentilatorChallengeUK consortium and new Nightingale Hospitals earlier this year.
